what else could we sell to impact the 13 trillion of debt? the same thing happened with Alaskan oil. this should be treated as a national treasure for future generations in both personal and industrial usage.

Just like our tax dollars. Send it overseas. Where are our elected representatives and why are they not setting guaranteed low rates to Americans "before" any exports?

This isn't news. From the very beginning, this is where it was going to go to start with. You honestly didn't think America was going to drill for gas to enrich it's self ..... did you? All for the love of money and NOT for pride!

Nowhere in this story does it say anyone is giving anything to Asia for free. That's why they call it free TRADE. Energy resources will be traded in exchange for agreed upon valuables. Class dismissed.

They say we need to find other fuels for our cars so we can cut tied with OPEC. Nature Gas is a start so why ship it to other countries

We are also a net exporter of Coal. Should we take that from private industry as well?

Nip.

We use around 7B barrels per year. Just 1.5B barrels per year comes from OPEC. 2.5B comes from non OPEC imports, and the rest is domestic.

70% of our oil comes from sources other than OPEC

Seriously, who didn't see this coming? Oh, yeah, the right wingers who believe every lie Fox News or corporations throw at them. Everything those of us who opposed this drilling have warned about has come to pass. Dangle enough cash in front of people and they'll believe anything. Very sad.

Look up what we import from India and Japan. There is very little that this country NEEDS from these places. I can't see anything we NEED or have to have from these places to survive as a nation. Most of what I see listed could be manufactured in the United States creating jobs; the other stuff we could do without. Utica and Marcellus will be the only ones profiting from this,as usual.Oh a hand full of jobs.

The risks of fracking are still not understood. So risk American water and earthquakes to sell a precious commodity that is needed here. omg and the idiots selling coal to China, India and other places really don't give a rats buttons about global warming;we have EPA regulations, they don't; but we're on the same planet.Hello!Gore=liar&opportunist

The people in control of this country are so far gone up their own anus they will stop at nothing to gain more wealth for themselves even if it destroys the lives of people, destroys the environment or destroys the job market.

Other jobs will be created, temporarily, during the shale boom; but don't get too excited its just another agenda to brainwash the sheeple into hope.A false hope for a future where your "dreams can come" true. LOL Trust me we are screwed unless there is a dramatic change of mindset from the takers. And a complete overhaul of the government; one not run by pharmaceutical companies, or oil companies or any other muli-billion dollar self- interest organization.

You'll see, the shale smokescreen that will look like an industrial revolution. Bringing hope to America. Forget it. Prepare during this time for what you will do when the sheet hits the fan. Prepare for no electricity and what you will do when Marshal Law is put into effect and the greenback is worthless.

This is why the rightwing chant of 'drill-baby-drill' is 'bogus-baby-bogus'. This is private industry and they can sell to whomever they want, that is capitalism.

The only road to energy independents is use less and use sources that cannot be exported.

Remember every time you hear a Republican say the words 'energy independence' duck because his nose is growing.
