The Trib only spoke with a 35 yr veteran and not a younger more productive worker..........point of slant.......Of course and...oh no!!! more time for her to walk around her neighborhood and offer alcoholic drinks to married men in the community, while she is divorced. Fact!

The reason employees that are able to retire or have 30 or more years in and can retire at 55 are voting no for this is because of GREED they what to retire with the extra SEVERANCE package that comes with a plant closing!! So they don't want it to pass so they can retire with that extra plain and simple they think just because they did their time they are owed it. So Heck with everyone else!! So they should of retired when the company was giving nice packages but no they kept hoping the place would close and that package was worth more to them so it is GREED on that side!! vote yes save the jobs. Give the rest of the employees a chance VOTE YES!!

Marmitmonger, such misery you show. If you are in such a comfortable position, why do you shout out your anti working people rants?

Sammy, as usual comes out swinging!

REALLYTIRED, has the idea, make proposal public, quite confident more people would understand, besides THE UNION put the proposal up for vote and democracy decided!

Purecountry, YOU ARE 100% ON THERE! GOOD INPUT!

TRASH, that was a classy and thoughtful comment.

I am a retired Teamster driver and Ohio Lamp was one of my customers for 22 years. The relationships I had with the shipping/receiving personnel at GE is something I will always have fond memories of. I hope that GE will make the right decision by installing new lines and hiring more good workers from the Valley. My prayers are with all of you.

Unions were founded on the premise that the individuals do what is best for the body, as a whole. This does not include taking a perk that only benefits half of the members and FUBARs the other half. The older members who are taking the money and running must not have appreciated what was done for them in the past by true union brothers and sisters.

If this contract isn't ratified, I will spit in the eyes of every recently retired member of the union that I happen across in public.

Hope they stick to their guns, until they get the right answers. All to often tentative contracts when explain is not exactly what was negotiated. The good parts are told after being tweaked to sound real good, but the bad parts are ignored or evaded from being discussed. I personally don't blame those older workers for voting no. The younger workers today feel that it's time the older worker retire, they made enough money and let them make some now. That was the mind set of the 1995-1997 workers GM hired. Instead of trying to learn from them, all they wanted them was out the door. With their mind set if it's them or the retirees losing benefits or taking cuts in money, the retirees will lose. An I doubt if these young workers are any different. All they care about is me,me,me. They don't understand what unionism is and don't care either.

paulpaul... please explain your comment. How are the younger GE workers stealing the older workers' jobs?

...but the younger workers believe they are entitled to steal the older workers jobs. what would you do if you were in their shoes, take a 15% pay cut with no Company guarantee that they will stay open? I doubt it. Young people today think they are entitled to everything, even someone elses job.

Your facts - The valley, the economy, the record number now on government assistance, union industry woes and shut downs. No those aren't facts.

"Fact is many who are flapping gums couldn't handle an industrial job."

LOL! A monkey can handle an industrial job.

It is you that can't handle a management job. That comes with responsibility and merit. Something you liberals steer well away from. "don't judge me based on performance I am middleclass". Children, all of you, with government and union thug nannies. Whip!

PuffnStuff, interesting, sorry I didn't thoroughly read your comments 1st time.

Like I said yesterday, the more input from GE employees the better outsiders can understand what's really going on.

I'm not taking sides, just really curious to facts of proposal and indications of Company's intent.

Truly hope something is worked out for the people at working at GE.

futuresnowbird, expected exactly what you stated, only part of story was being told. Appreciate input from all GE employees. To many people are rushing to judgement.

Resistance, one definition for democracy, majority rule, another is.. equality of rights, so I think they apply. My dictionary is old but think todays will say simular.

Yes there are some union bashers here, I catogorize them as 1. Unknowing, uniformed babblers. 2. True jealous haters. 3. Persons who unfortunately had bad experience in union shop(which is understandable)
