I was going to pass on this article until I read Cals comment. Most of the slave owners were black? On what planet was that you idiot?

Furthermore this guy is not the President of the NAACP in any City, please read the article before commenting. We all know they both got a fair trial, so fair that they avoided the life sentence they both deserved...

Rape is rape. Is does not matter your race, age, intelligent factor, or your stupidity factor. It does not matter how or what you use. It does not matter if you are drunk, high, passed out. When you have someone tapping, watching, laughing, making comments and not doing anything about what is taking place, all are in the wrong. You can be a honor student, a drug user, a drunk. It does not matter if you come from a broken home, have money or poor. I believe anyone old enough, minor or not, to think that rape is ok and proceeds to do a immoral act on another person, should need no jury and sentanced. Evidence is evidence no matter who you are or where you came from. Everyone needs to understand, rape is rape, period!

imback, The NAACP DIDN't stick it's nose in. A FORMER Local Offical of a NAACP branch ran his mouth. The NAACP to their credit repudiated the statement that Mr. Mayo made. They further stated that Rape was rape and and not a racial issue.

You have got to be kidding! Looks like Royal just wants to make a name for himself and get his picture in the paper. LOOK MAYO, EVEN IF THE GIRL ACTS LIKE A WHORE, SHE DID NOT DESERVE WHAT HAPPENED TO HER THAT NIGHT. THIS BECOMES A MORE HEINOUS CRIME IF THE GIRL WAS ACTUALLY UNCONSCIOUS. These two got off EASY so I really don't know why the NAACP has to poke its ugly, disgusting nose into the issue. Just trying to stir up trouble AGAIN! I hope you let it go, Royal Mayo (sounds like some new salad dressing), you piece of garbage. God forbid we have to put up with Jackson or Sharpton.

Is there any black person guilty of anything? Evertime one is arrested, found guilty - they screem and hollar "Did not get a fair trial". Getting to really be big BS. They forget most of the slave owners were BLACK.

OJ was convicted of murder in the court of public opinion too. Why didn't the NAACP step in on that one. Oh that's right, he got away with it.

I'll admit, I didn't think the trial was fair either. A fair trial would have been in an adult court and they would spend the remaining part of their reproductive years bunking with another male felon. They all should be thanking God for the break the received.

Royal Mayo just doesn't get it. Rape is Rape! This is not a racial thing at all. Leave the NAACP out of the discussion. It's a shame that such a person was once the president of the Stupidville NAACP local chapter because obviously he just doesn't get it..

I suppose that after seeing the disgusting video it is possible that both of these young men were convicted in the court of public opinion.

But let's understand if that's true both were convicted by public opinion. Not just young Mr.Richmond simply because of his race.

And as we all know it didn't matter what public opinion might or might not have been regardless. There was no jury to form opinions or to reach a verdict.

Or perhaps Mr.Mayo has forgotten both were convicted and sentenced by the honorable Judge Lipps. So now it begs the question..... Is Mr.Mayo implying that Judge Lipps is a racist ?

Put the race card back in your pocket Mr.Mayo. Given the light sentences for the crime of rape it seems like Judge Lipps went out of his way to cut both offenders a pretty sweet break.

Sorry Mr.Mayo that's not racism by anyones standards with the exception of yourself.

Actually, the NAACP has condemned his statment, and rightfully so. However, I find it indicative of the latent racism of the NAACP that they would allow, that they would elect, a person as bigoted and prejudiced as this man to be president.
