Something does'nt add up in this article. Why the Coast Guard? The Navy could make him a candidate for officer training as long as his masters degree isn't in basket weaving.

Something doesn't seem right here. Why leave the Navy for the Coast Guard? I suspect your previous service was less then stellar rated so you are not wanted back. Why not ask our two senators for help? This sounds more like a anti-Ryan letter then anything.

Mr. Kuti, How old are you? If you were 18 when you entered the navy, and you served 6.08 years, you would have been at least 24 years old at that point. It appears from your letter that you then went to college because when you applied to the CG Academy in 2009 you had completed your 4 year degree. then add the three years time passage from 2009 to the present. My guess is that you have to be somewhere between the ages of 27 and 30+ following your timeline. I would think that you may well be past the age limit requirement for acceptance at one of the Military Academies. How about a little more information and lot less political hacking.

Mr. Reallytiredofit, Research the requirements for Coast Guard OCS prior to making uninformed comments. The amount of information permitted in an editorial is quite limited to go into the detail you ask for. Mr. Warrenproud, I was recommended for NAVY OCS as well. Mr Marine12, my master's is in public administration from Old Dominion University, 3.6 gpa.

From personal experience assisting a relative who is a Veteran. I found Senator Brown's office to be very helpful. I will not judge the writer but, wanting to serve his country in the US Coast Guard is admirable and I wish him well.

OK,oef0102, The article space is limited. Use the comment section to bring forth the rest of the story. How old are you? Are you looking for assistance from your congressman or an exception from the military requirements? You will have plenty of space here in the comments section.

What is it that does not add up sir? I asked my Congressman for help and could not get a reply. I think this letter is quite clear. I did not expect any sort of special treatment, just a response would have better than what I received.

@Navy Vet. Thank you for your service. Pay no attention to Reallytiredofhimself he has to add his idiotic chatter here all the time. You should get an honest answer from Timmy but he isn't probably in his office, you most likely got a form letter from his skeleton crew. He is busy partying in DC.

oef0102, again sir, you haven't said what you wanted the Congressman to do on your behalf. That is the piece that is missing. It appears to me, at least, that you are asking to have the Coast Guard official policy with regard to O.C.S. waived for you. I understand your wanting that, in light of your extension of service. The issue here though is whether the U.S. Coast Guard should make exceptions in their officer selection process for anyone. I believe that the Congressman owes you a response to your inquiry, however I'm not certain he should be requesting a change in Coast Guard Policy. From one veteran to another, Thank you for your service to your country.
