You want to talk about power? The Catholic Church is nothing compared to Children's Services. At least the Church can be sued when it's employees molest children.

Funny how everyone is commenting that all these people are just trying to make money off this. For one, the guy killed himself, so you obviously cant criminally prosecute him can you? Even if he wasnt dead, the catholic church has a pretty long history of doing everything in their power to protect these pedophiles from prostitution. All they have to do is move them out of the country, into a rehab program (yes the catholic church actually has a rehab program for pedophile priests, look it up), and nobody can prosecute.
Suing the church is about the only thing that works.

Asstric...heres why it still goes on, because people dont report it. You sound like you may have had some alone time with a priest yourself. Anything that you want to share with the group?

Familyguy (typical lemming)I'm glad Baker's molestation was an isolated incident in the local catholic community! Now, to the rest of us that haven't lived in a cave our entire lives and know of the travesty that has gone on for decades without ONE being prosecuted for their crimes, there's NO WAY IN THE WORLD I'd let my children, especially males go to a catholic school!!! The catholic church is too big, influential and powerful to stop. So until its' followers wake up and demand accountability for the church's inaction, the abuse will continue as it has. Jim Jones talked 900 plus people into suicide. See how easily people are manipulated in the name of religion? Tell me how the abuse in the catholic church which 1st came to light in the 40's is STILL going on?

continued: That is why the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) and the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) filed a 30 page report to the U.N. Committee on the Rights of the Child documenting the ongoing worldwide sex abuse crisis in the Catholic Church. ***********ccrjustice****/newsroom/press-releases/vatican-summoned-un-committee-rights-of-child
Children are safest when child predators and those who enable and conceal their crimes are held responsible. We are here to protect kids and to help heal those already wounded. As we have witnessed here and throughout the world, the sex abuse cover up within the Catholic church is not nearly over, the truth is just beginning to come out. There are cardinals and bishops who are still covering up sex crimes against kids, they are still not removing predator clergy, and they are still not reporting to the police. There has been no bishop or cardinal fired or punished to deter them to stop. It is so sad that more kids may have to be sexually abused before any of these church officials are held responsible, and many of them need to spend some time behind bars for any real change to happen. Outside law enforcement needs to get involved and investigate their crimes against humanity. These criminals need to spend time behind bars, they are not above the law anymore.

We have spent a disproportional amount of time focusing on the despicable acts of one Catholic school teacher in our area without considering the hundreds of teachers in the Diocese who provide superior instruction day in and day out.
Don't paint them with the same brush.
If I had any more school aged kids, I would certainly consider sending them to a Catholic school where they would get a superior education to Harding, Youngstown East etc.
But, no matter where I sent my kids, I would take time to explain improper touching and other behavior at an early age and I would follow up on a regular basis to ensure they are still ok.
Good parenting can stop most of this activity now that we are aware that this sickness exists to this extent.

I saw a commercial on TV last night from the Youngstown Catholic Diocese, advertising for school aged students to consider changing from public to making an education at any one of a number of the catholic institutions in the area. Apparently some of the "lemming" followers are finally wising up and walking away from the fold! Then again, probably not......sad, truly sad.

CASH is the only thing that the kids get for being mistreated by a pervert right in church i hope they have to pay billions to all that suffer from what the church allowed to happen all over this country . Everyone that knew what was going on and helped him or did nothing need to be in jail as well.
