Right you are about the sequester, however the Debt ceiling is a large reason why a budget has not been negotiated between the House and Senate. The national Debt and the debt limit ARE actually about money that is needed to pay for legislation that has ALREADY BEEN PASSED and the BILLS must now be paid. Since the House Speaker insists on tying the two together then it really is about not paying the governments bills already made.

To put the Sequester in perspective, please read George Will's column on Sunday's editorial page in the Trib.
We are getting a whole lot of smoke blown up our butts about a comparatively small amount and an insignificantly small percentage of the total spending.
No the sky is NOT falling in this manufactured crisis.
Gotta wonder what the other hand is up to while we focus on this political theater.

This is Obama scare tactics, Listen--the sequester is only reducing the added amount of planned spending. It's nothing from the current level of spending, it reduces the increased spending.
Al Quaida is on the move-under Obama they now have leadership positions in Egypt,Libya,Pakistan and Iraq is falling plus Giant Iran is getting nuclear arms.
John Kerry phoned the Russians but they waited a week to call him back, The whole world is laughing at America's decline, including Chinese.

We have no leadership, just a 24/7 candidate. Until Obama is impeached his destruction of our country will continue.

I say let the cuts happen, We need to lower the deficit one way or another. Obama's fake, propped up economy needs balanced out. Wonder why prices of food, textiles, gas, and etc. are going through the roof? Its because he has printed so much money, devauling the dollar. All you Dems. need to look it up the sequester was Obama's brainchild. LET THE CUTS BEGIN.

Artic. I can name a few things.
1. I do not agree with Obamas support of gay marriage.
2. and also agree with what jtoday has listed.
3. more gun laws that will do no good.
Ready for the big shocker? I am going to take a very good look at Chris Christy should he run in 2016. He seems the only republican that has his head some what screwed on right.

JONA: your kidding right?? memory failing you????
Doesn't matter who started.. both sides agreed to this RIGHT.. 6 dems & 6 repubs..to cut 1 trillion + in domestic spending over 10 yrs.. RIGHT
How did it start??House Repubs refused to raise the 2011 debt ceiling, right?? unless large deficit reduction took place right..
Dems. refused to agree to more tax cuts without additional revenue from taxes.. from wealthy right..
REPUBS and GROVER NORQUIST refused to raise taxes on the rich right..
so the evil sequester was born... so many devistating cuts to the economy including what the Rebubs rarely allow and that was cuts to the MILITARY..the GANG of 12 would not fail under this pressure.. RIGHT
They Failed ....... now the repubs gave up those TAX raises in the end of 2012 for nothing.. had they given those tax increases in 2011 we would not be here today right?? SO SAD..

Yes you may say he owns it smoker K but the vast majority of the American people put the blame squarely on the Republicans in congress. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA The Republicans have done it to themselves again. Just admit it, smoke, the GOP is in a hole and the dumbs#its just keep digging.

jtoday, my hat is off to you. We for sure do not agree on what Obama has or has not done. But, I give credit where credit is due, whether our opinions are the same or not. You will at least concede a few items. My gripe is those who will not. They put whatever side they happen to be on up on a pedestal, then, they simply assault the other side.

We should already be out of Afghanistan.

"Bush is gone, this is Obamas claim."
OK ArticWoof
The stock market has more than doubled.
Interest rates are low. House prices and starts are up.
Unemployment is down.
The Iraq War has ended and Afghanistan is ending.
Bin Laden and Kadaffi are gone.
I will not give credit to Obama for the Republican Party being a mess. Republicans can take credit for that.

I admit, the repubs screwed up running Romney. THAT was a huge screw up. His plans sucked. I wanted Hermain Cain to be the candidate. I admit, the repubs have not laid out any strong alternative plans. I know this, and they are paying the price. BUT, Obama has created a LOT of this mess we are in, and many still want to go back 5 years and blame Bush. My god, grow up. Bush is gone, this is Obamas claim. But yet, point more fingers,,,when will it all stop?

" People need to start thinking outside the "FOX" "
And people also need to start thinking outside of MSNBC. It goes both ways Daniel. THAT is the problem right there. Too many people will NOT even attempt to suggest it goes both ways, you are either Fox or MSNBC, Liberal or Conservative, Republican or Democrat. I admit, I am a conservative republican. BUT, I can admit " my side " is wrong on certain issues. It simply seems the left is not capable of doing that at all. Instead of pointing fingers, accusations and blaming one side or the other like you do, and others. Why not admit, BOTH sides need to get thier crap together, stop worrying about re-election and party favors and do what is right for the country. My gosh Daniel, can you not admit Obama is not a saint, he called for the sequester and the repubs and a few democrats have called his bluff.

FamilyGuy, Of course it was Obama's idea. That is not up for debate. He did that thinking, just maybe the GOP would actually do something. Well they did. The went on vacation. Again! For Obama thinking that The GOP would do their job well, I do blame him for that one.
People need to start thinking outside the "FOX"

The Republicans cannot win on this issue. They constantly call for spending cuts, never specifically, as if those would have no consequence. I have always said that Republicans never really wanted spending cuts and they are proving me right.

It is amazing how many people here are blinded by party labels and who have absolutely no concept of the effect of spending, budgets, deficits and long term debt.
It's also amazing how many people refuse to acknowledge that it was obama who proposed the Sequester concept - which the Republicans agreed to - to get the catastrophic spending issues past the 2012 elections.
Yes, that's right.
It was OBAMA who put the sequestration issue on the table and the spineless Republicans agreed to it.
And now, after yet another extension when obama wants to renege, all we hear from these economic geniuses is "Bush's fault"!

Of course they're not smart enough...this is the party who welcomed genius sarah palin & mitt romney to represent them and some of the outrageous statements by some of their own RAPE IS NOT A CRIME constituents do not help their cause, especially when they don't have the gonads to denounce statements like that. Worthless john mccain is demanding answers on benghazi over 4 deaths compared to the thousands on 9/11,atleast hilliary clinton took responsbility ,not one of the crime syndicate (rice, rumsfeld, cheney) has stepped foward to this very day.
