February 10, 2013

Teri Boggs never thought her family would fall prey to the “heroin addition trap” or that some of her son’s activities would become local crime statistics....

Teri Boggs is a very strong, brave mother for putting her story out there. She is a very dear friend of mine & has given me much strength & hope as I am also the mother of an addict. Sadly, many people do nothing but pass judgement on others instead of showing compassion for what her, and so many others, including myself, have gone through trying to deal this horrible disease. Hopefully by putting her story out there, she will reach other families who need to know they are not alone. There is help out there for not only the addicts but for the loved ones as well.

I agree Liberty3. The problem is the drug blinds them from seeing reality. Usually it takes a major disaster to open the eyes of an addict. Most are in so much denial to begin with that when a catastrophic event occurs it triggers even more usage. The poor children are helpless at birth and continued helpless as they grow up in the same environment. Sad ........

To those of you that are addicted and still having children, please stop and think what you are doing to them. You have never watched pain until you see a newborn screaming , shaking and seizing because they too need Moms fix. Most of us know the horrors of addiction, it is a monster. But no baby deserves such a terrible beginning.

When I was a kid there were unbiased government scientists who were independent of politics and business. They worked in university lab rooms and were protected by law to get to the bottom of things.

I miss believing such entities exist. Today even the scientists work for corporate interests and political advantages.

oxy-con-tin is a gold mine worth billions annually. It is basically legal ******. In terms of destroying life, oxy-con-tins are the equivalent of 10 x 911 every year. The pharmaceutical company has no more remorse than al Qaida, as well.

*********is a gold mine for the industry but kills tens of 1000s every year.

The "free market" anti-government wave of legislation relaxed or deregulated various laws affecting industries from scientific research to media reporting...all in the name of freedom for private industry. What could more freedom hurt, right?

It allowed medical researchers to work for the same pharmaceutical companies whose drugs they tested, regardless of conflict of interests. Now the same scientist who tests a new drug for side effects often answers to the CEO of the company that makes the drug. Scientists have to feed their families too, so as you can imagine, there was pressure on researchers to find "favorable" results to experiments when the company CEO wants to market a new drug.

Purdue Pharma covered up the risk of addiction to *********and was sued for $635 million. But the drug is worth $3 billion a year!

The anti-government crowd are partially responsible for this mess.

The lesson to be learned is that you have to let an addict go. You tell them that if they want to get clean you will help them or if they get clean you will invite them back. You cannot enable the addict to affect everyone.

MulletHead, one of the definitions for disease is: any harmful, depraved, or morbid condition, as of the mind or society.

What makes something a disease is that it is Chronic, progressive and can be fatal if left untreated. Addiction fits into both these definitions. It has been considered a disease since the early 1950's and the definition grows along with the evidence that proves it is a disease.

I feel for this woman, I have watched my X sister in law deal with this with my niece who is currently in jail TG. She is a total mess has been shooting meth/hero.ine since like 10th grade never did any other drugs went right to that stuff. She has robbed all their neighbors, have had the police at their house more times in 6 or 7 yrs than we had in 30 yrs of owning a bar, she has OD'ed on several occasions. They were in denial for many years about her an her friends hanging around all the time, I knew an tried to warn them but they just wouldn't listen and still don't. The best place for these people to be is in jail and rehab for twice as long as they have been on the drug....These people will kill you for this stuff an it needs to be stopped.

side note: Let's see a story about the children of the addicts. I met a mother who 1: sold her food stamps 2: sold children's toys and clothes 3: brings the valley's sleeziest people into her home and put the kids at risk of being violated. I've heard stories of moms allowing a pimp to rent the children our - sex trafficking - for money for drugs. let's see a story on the innocent children that live in this mess. Perhaps CSB or alternative shelters would participate in this?
