That was the cost of doing business in keeping the right and qualified man in the job and not some puppet willing to go along with the previous councils' unethical ways.

NF has something in the water (and it isn't something anyone else wants). Such a power struggle in every capacity in that town. I stopped in to pay a traffic ticket the other day, expired plates. The court staff are all struggling to find the proper procedure??? Don't they do this everyday???? Bunch of losers in that town. I wish I could get to the turnpike another way so I wouldn't have to get that close.

What they really need is a locked gate around the town . . . nobody and most importantly . . . nobody out.

. . . until we find the source of the disease . . .

Why would Mr. Luonuansuu vote on a future manager's contract if he was leaving office? This is like a team owner signing up a coach after he has agreed to sell the team!

I USED TO LIVE IN NEWTON FALLS. GLAD I DON'T ANYMORE. I WAS EMBARRASSED TO TELL ANYONE. WHEN I DID THEY WOULD SAY "I'M SORRY!!! ". WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS. YOU KNOW THEIR WATER SUPPLY IS THE MAHONING RIVER. THEIR SCHOOL SYSTEM STINKS. SO SAD IT USED TO BE A NICE LITTLE TOWN. NOW IT'S ANOTHER PLANET. NO ONE LEAVES THERE, I THINK THEY ARE INNER BREAD. THEIR CITY GOVERNMENT HAS BECOME A JOKE.

Hey Insider let's See. 4 Members were voted out of council and Before they Left they Gave the Police Chief a One Sided Contract. Acontract that will cost Newton Falls and a Nightmare Getting rid of A Bad Chief.

There is no decision worse than indecision. Newton Falls is known for chaos in their public officials because they do not make good decisions.I would like to think Benitis was going to straighten some of that out. Take your money and run Harry, you are better off. Now you can sit on your front porch and watch the fireworks going on at city hall. :-)

I can't believe that there has been no intervention from the state on this little towns circus side show. Always infighting like little kids on the playground. What will it take to clean this sludge pond up.

"what a waste of tax payers money !! your fired you get zippo !"

UNLESS you are under contract, which he was, and the contract has provisions protecting him from just this sort of nonsensical arbitrary dismissal at the hands of these backwoods yokels, which it does.

You can't just hire someone, maybe lure them away from another job, just to fire them because you happen to feeeeeeeeel like it.

He was a smart guy to insist on just that sort of protection.

Defeat, he wasn't smart, if he was smart he wouldn't have let some of the councilmembers get him involved in this in the first place. Of course "he wanted just to get the council back to working together", now there is a good reason to want to be City Manager...LOLOL you are probably right, he is the smart one, he got he money..

Newton Falls has a lot of good hard working people! City government is no doubt F'd-up! I like how all the little pile-on-Pukes come out of the woodwork and bash the entire community. Lil PP-watcher don't like negative remarks about his town, if he really lives where he claims. Hope NF straightens this mess out someday, people deserve better.

PPwatcher, you can't take turnpike, doubt they'd take drink tokens at toll booth. I keep my tags current cuz I live in my Chrysler mini van. Someday I'll drive to Cortland and park for a while. Hee, hee... United.

My first complaint is that too many people sit on boards across TC or are trustees or council people and they don't know the law. If you don't know the law, then use the legal counsel available to you. $14,000 is $14,000 of taxpayer money that could have been used for many other things. Second, some people on boards or councils leave petty personality conflicts interfer with what is good for the community and its fiscal responsibility. Maybe that $14,000 should be split up and paid to the community by those voting on Benetis' dismissal. Maybe then they won't make the same type of error again when restitution comes from their pockets instead of the taxpayers.

I don't fault Benetis at all.

Reader, I don't fault Benetis either, but I don't fault the council who fired him either. The ones to blame are the three that hired him with a lame duck council member who had lost reelection. Why hire a new person while you are headed out the door? Those are the ones who should have to pay this.
