notpc, are you offspring of Marmapuke?? Hate, idiots like this have never had a good job, don't have the ambition or drive. So they feast on everything negative. What a twit. I respect firemen, and cops(honest ones) well as steel workers and kids working at McDonalds, more than greedy fat cats that don't reinvest and tough out the slow times. Can't beleive some of these miserable kooks.

But then again I'm an idiot, only 21years working in local manufacturing industry, Marmel and his other two usernames are economic gurus, with infinite knowledge. What kind of retard would blame Mayor Franklin for GE plant closing? I could only hope some other invester came and did same as this company did with RG.

Far as labor esp. In steel industry, you get what you pay for thus that's why mills have low turnover rate with workers. They are compensated for.factors and conditions in the work enviroment they work in. Marmel rather see illegal immigrants work for pennies so FAT CATS can line their ever growing wallets.

I'll bet MARMEL, LIEMONGER AND USBLUES never landed or could muster an industrial labor job that paid decent. Matter of fact bet Marmel was some low level supervisor, that got papered with greivances, or law suits because he's an idiot. I love when these old plants starts and esp. When they are successful. Good news.

There u go you miserable smucks, MARMALADE, you see bonehead, like other industrial labor, most of it is skilled and paid to compensate. And Yes a company can still be profitable and competitive while paying decent wages.

I will ALWAYS show respect to ANY person who chose to serve! Military, prison guards, police, paramedics and firemen. I was both. I'm a PROUD Air Force veteran who served during Persian Gulf AND a firefighter for the Virginia Beach Fire Department. I no longer do that because I chose another career path that is STILL serving the public. I ENJOY making a difference in people's lives. Maybe social worker was my original calling. I enjoy what I do for a living now and am attending school to enhance my resume. So NO! I am not a tax dollar leech. If you EVER had an unfortunate experience of a house fire (and I hope you don't) thank those men in uniform for using your hard-earned tax dollars.

Notsure: you're welcome for thanking me for my service. Unlike your idiotic negative short list you've created for a firefighter career description, I'll give you the REAL list: search and rescue, aqua rescue, high angle rescue, fire surpression, automobile extricating, CPR, enhanced EMT certification, hazmat certification and child safety seat installation. Thanks! Thanks for insulting the firefighter's career. A fireman is a person who's willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of OTHERS!! So maybe one of those who given their lives on 9/11 was playing "table tennis" before the first plane struck tower 1.

To: ihatetheblues: So your union legacy is 'no jobs' or 'bad jobs'? You certainly didn't leave anything for our youth, jobs.
So. What do you do for the taxpayer, Wash the big red fire truck, play table tennis,or are you assigned to the the Kitchen?

How does it feel to be another piglet nursing from the taxpayer trough? That's not bad money for 2 or 3 days per week.
If its a hardship for you- Why didn't you stay at Delphi?

I know what it's like going backwards on wages. Going to the fire department from Delphi wasn't pleasant at ALL. It went from $54,000 per year to $36,000.00 per year. It was a sacrifice all right!!
