Hubbard dispatchers opening arms to Liberty

HUBBARD — Police Chief Martin Kanetsky would welcome the chance to work with Liberty’s 911 Dispatch Center if that township’s March 4 levy fails.
‘‘We’ve had some brief conversations, ’’ Kanetsky said. ‘‘We have a brand new police station and new dispatch equipment. We also have two dispatch stations set up in our center. I believes we could work something out.’’
Supporters of the Liberty 911 Dispatch Center have been saying if the 1.25-mill levy fails for a second time, the township would be forced to consider going either to Hubbard or to Trumbull County’s 911 dispatch center.
Last week, several Girard city councilmen asked its chief to informally approach Liberty about the possibility of working with it. Liberty already sends its court cases through the Girard Municipal Court.
An effort to pass the Liberty 911 levy in November failed by about 75 votes.
