| | Springsteen, E Street Band in Pittsburgh on May 19January 26, 2009 - Andy GrayI walk in the door this morning to find an email from Live Nation in Pittsburgh, announcing a Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band show at 7:30 p.m. May 19 at Mellon Arena. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 2, the day after a couple people might see Bruce when he performs for the half time show at the Super Bowl. The concert announcement isn’t a surprise. European dates started going on sale last week, and a U.S. Springsteen tour was expected to coincide with the release of “Working on a Dream,’’ which arrives in stores Tuesday. Last year Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers timed the ticket sales for its summer tour to immediately follow the Super Bowl and had its most successful tour in years. Right now Pittsburgh is one of the only official U.S. dates. There are no tour dates on Bruce’s Web page yet, and Backstreets magazine’s Web site doesn’t even have Pittsburgh on its news page. On the fan forums at Backstreets, there’s talk of a Charlotteville, Va., show on May 5 as well as Pittsburgh, but that’s it. Expect more dates – perhaps Cleveland? – to be announced in the next day or two. Springsteen also is holding the line on prices. Tickets are $89 and $55, the same as he charged on the last E Street Band tour. Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster outlets as well as at www.livenation.com and by calling 800-745-3000.
