| | New U2 single onlineJanuary 19, 2009 - Andy GrayFor fans who didn’t get enough of U2 when the band performed Sunday at the pre-inaugural concert at the Lincoln Memorial, the band is streaming the first single from its upcoming CD on its Web site. “Get You Boots On” has a throbbing beat and opens with a fuzzy, garage-rock guitar riff, but the track also melds some ambient dance elements and the trance-like “You don’t know how beautiful you are” vocal riff has a post-“Sgt. Pepper,” Beatlesque quality. It doesn’t abandon the traditional U2 sound of the last two CDs, but it embraces some of the experimentation that was the hallmark of the band’s work in the ‘90s. Because of the complexity and divergent elements, “Get Your Boots On” isn’t quite the immediate grabber that “Vertigo” was as a first single to “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb,” but it certainly piques my curiosity for the new album.
