Gorman's Grab Bag

Steelhounds farewell

Sad to see the SteelHounds done for the year with their 1-0 loss Friday eliminating them from CHL playoff competition, but glad to read owner Herb Washington talking of moving to a different league.

Because the CHL is owned by the company that was shown the door for its management of the Chevy Centre for the city, I doubt the league would put up much of a fight if the `Hounds left for another league, hopefully the ECHL, which has teams in Toledo and Dayton.

I only made it to one game this year, and while the game itself was good, there was too much music and dancing going on around me during every stoppage of play. I may sound like Andy Rooney here, but gone are the days when you can just go to a game and be entertained by what is on the ice or field. Next year, I hope they scale it back a bit, and also stop playing music during the fights. Playing music during play on the field is something a truly minor league does, like Major League Lacrosse or Arena Football.
