| | All PenguinsSeptember 8, 2012 - Dana SulonenWith the Penguins already having a sizable lead against Valparaiso, a lot of the starters sat out the second quarter. That gave way for local product Demond Hymes to have a first. With 7 minutes left in the half, and on his second career carry, Hymes rushed the ball in the end zone from 1 yard out, giving him his first career touchdown, and YSU the 42-0 lead. Hymes, a 2011 graduate of Warren G. Harding, is a redshirt freshman as he sat out last year. Even though the YSU is playing an underwhelming Valpo team, it is evident Hymes is going to be good. Also in the game is backup quarterback Patrick Angle, giving Kurt Hess a break. Torrian Pace has also been getting some carries, letting starter Jamaine Cook to have a seat. Pace scored the first touchdown of the second quarter, and had another score with 3:09 left in the half. Sidenote, Valpo still hasn't crossed the 50-yard line. Score at Halftime: YSU, 49-0 Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
