Job security

December 17, 2010 - Mike McLain
BEREA -- Browns coach Eric Mangini addressed the issue of his job status during his Friday press conference.

Mangini admitted that it's not unsuual for a coach to be let go, even if the team has made progress. Although the Browns are 5-8 heading into the final three games, they have wins over the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots. They took the New York Jets into overtime and would have won if Chansi Stcukey hadn't fumbled after a reception deep in Jets' territory.

The Browns were 2-11 at this point last season. They finished with wins over Kansas City, Oakland and Jacksonville to finish 5-11. It was enough to save Mangini's job.

Mangini said that he hasn’t been told by team president Mike Holmgren that he needs to win a certain number of games.
