Special teams? Seriously?

September 18, 2010 - Dana Sulonen

Ok, enough is enough. What the heck is going on with the special teams of Ohio State? Because if kicker Devin Barclay wasn't insanely accurate, this whole unit would be dubbed a massive fail.

The kick return squad needs to be thanking their lucky stars that Ohio had an illegal block in the back penalty, negating a 99-yard return for a touchdown by Julian Posey (brother of Ohio State receiver DeVier Posey).

Ohio also blocked a Ben Buchanan punt in the third quarter, giving the Bobcats their best field position of the day. Luckily for the special teams, the defense bailed them out, causing a fumble and getting the ball back for the Buckeyes.

Also, Jordan Hall hasn't had any big runs to boast about in the return game. I never thought I'd think this, but I'm betting Jim Treseel misses Ray Small right now.

SCORE AT THE END OF THE THIRD QUARTER: 43-0
