A dog tale
December 24, 2009 - Frank Robinson
I received this letter the other day. It was submitted as a letter to the editor, but we don't use this kind of letter in our Letters to the Editor portion of the Opinion page.
However, I'm posting it here because it kind of struck me as sad. It's from a dog -- you read that right -- that apparently was abandoned. I know, I know, dogs can't write. It's actually written by Susan Warner of Warren, and it cleverly points how some people can abuse their animals.
Here it is:
We adopted a dog from the pound. This is a letter from her.
Thank you, Susan J. Warner Warren
I'm a dog. I used to belong to a nice family. They had a big yard for me. Then one day, they didn't go to work anymore and I got less to eat. You took me for a ride one day. I like to ride in the car. But you left me at the end of a road somewhere.
I have a new family. But it's not you. I look at every car and truck when I go for my walk, and wonder if it's you. I sniff everywhere, but I can't find you. Where are you? The Dog (I use this name because they don't know my real name)
